Dvalin
The Obelisk Forge
Before being renowned through stories and legends, Dvalin was just a person. Depending on the story, Dvalin was born with a condition or curse, where his skin looked scarred due to burns. His mother did not survive childbirth, his father died in a cave-in, and his aunt had to raise him by herself. He had learned cruelty and hate from his village but learned love and kindness from his aunt. Dvalin focused his turmoil on his smithing, and much after decided to travel the world through the Underdark to hone his skills. Eventually, he reached the Cracked Smile Mountains of Haden, where he settled. Dvalin built himself a home, but those who neighbored him began seeking him out to learn his smithing techniques. Eventually, his lonesome home was surrounded by a quaint village. He was happy, and the flame in his heart began to settle. Then the dragons came. Unlike the dragons of the west, these eastern dragons fell to greed and blood lust. The dragons wanted the Cracked Smile Mountains to be their layer and nest. They would clear anyone from the surface or in any of the caverns. When Dvalin faced his first dragon, there was calm in his stature but fire in his eyes. Some say the strike from his hammer flashed a light that rivaled a dying star, the sound of scales and bone breaking deafened the earth and sky. He became strength, he made a country, then he died into divinity.
Dvalin is depicted in his mortal form in all his temples, however, Clerics who have seen him in visions say he manifests as a massive obsidian forge with a blinding flame in the tuyere.
