Zaratos

The moving city

Zaratos is a city built upon the back of the Elemental Titan, The Zaratan. Amongst a country inundated with divine magics, Zaratos is a city of crafting and invention. Although arcane magics are avoided, engineering and gadgetry has exploded as a means of exploring that space amongst the simple nomadic life of the tribes. There are a number of crafting and inventing guilds that are constantly updating parts of the city and using new inventions by the artificers of the city to do so.

The Earthquake Games

There is a deep underbelly of the ideals of strength and power that pervade Vishaal. The Earthquake Games, an annual celebration of the new year, bring warriors from all over the world together to compete in a battle tournament in hopes that they may be crowned winner and gain the prize of making a request of the Zaratan itself (plus the gold and title). Fighting pits built across the city test warriors year round and serve as audition spaces for teams willing to throw themselves into the ring.
Rarely are there repeated winners, however for the last two years the Puños de Fuego have won the games and are celebrities amongst the city.

Plates

Zaratos is built like an anthill on the back of the Zaratan. Each level, or Plate, is dedicated to a clan that controls that particular oasis or for the guests of the city.

• Shale Plate: the very top of the city, houses the open air rooftop gardens and the egg-shaped rock temple to the elemental titan below.
• Ubaji Plate: controlled by the Tooth Clan, they allow specialized merchants into their outer caves, although the inner caves are reserved for the clan's private use.
• Kayenta Plate: controlled by the Ear Clan, the space is used for religious worship and many guests come to get their fortunes told.
• Moenave Plate: controlled by the Pelt Clans, each family has their own lodging and the most resourced clans throw the best parties. Find warriors and sellswords easily here.
• Chinle Plate: controlled by the Claw Clans, this plate is divided into the "caves" or warehouses and the "shops" where the smiths and inventors work.
• Unkar Plate: This plate houses guests and guest services.
• Kaibab Plate: The market here hosts mostly saurus, meat and desert products with open stall street food and the Open Fighting Pits being the draw for many tourists.
