Session 5: The Rift Aftermath
General Summary
As the last enemy falls to the ground, the tension in the air dissipates. Seeing her party wounded and worn from battle Lucielle decides to replenish their energies with her healing magic. Despite her efforts Nox continues to bleed from his wound, unnoticed by the others. Not everyone is longing for a brief period of respite; standing victorious ontop of the slain ogre, Jahy finds herself swayed by the sentient axe to slice through the corpses looking for any potential treasure. Amidst the bodies she is able to find a potion of healing and an obsidian sculpture.
Rui still in awe from the vicious and fiery movements of Jahy finds herself in a catatonic state, only feeling the cool blood running down her face. As the party urges to press on, Lucielle notices that Rui is unresponsive. In an attempt to gain her attention Rickie throws a pebble at Ruis head, finally releasing her from her catatonic state. Rui glares at the mischievious pygmy tabaxi before continuing on.
The party find themselves infront of a tear in space, similar to the one they found to enter the rift. Longing for cooler temperatures and fresh air, each individual passes through the rift exit, finding themselves out in the forests of Livros once more. As dusk approaches the party sets up camp nearby.
Lucielle soars through the skies, calming herself after the traumatic experiences she now retains. She watches Tvallis, The Pale Twins to calm herself, feeling the wind caress her feathers and skin, drifting in the fresh air currents. Meanwhile at the camp Rickie shares some of his sweet homemade mochi with the party, offering one up especially for Rui as an apology for throwing the pebble at her head earlier.
Later that night Rui goes to a nearby stream to wash herself. Sitting beneath a small waterfall, water running down Ruis exposed body, she finds herself meditating. Lucielle, every curious and in an attempt to understand Rui, tries to interact with her, requesting Rui to remove her mask. Rui denies this request, prompting Lucielle to retreat back to camp.
While everyone is asleep beneath the night sky NoX turns to his Patron, his inner voice, discussing magic and the threat which Lucielles God poses for them. In an attempt to claim autonomy over his own body, NoX is reminded aggressively that he is not in control, his Patron is. He attunes himself to the Emberglow Iris, removing one of his eyes in the process. The night passes, and the party finds rest in the dark of the night.
Six days of tavelling go by before the party finds an Orc in dire need of help. Ol'Zog Head, a unusually refined and well-mannered Orc is in search of triplet golbin girls he was intrusted to safeguard. Rickie uses his sense of smell to locate them. The scent trail leads the party to an unexpected home, the Lair of a Drider.
