Character Creation
Below is a step-by-step guide for creating a character for this setting. This is just the mechanical side of character creation; if you’ve got questions about lore and backstory stuff, let me know.
- Allocate ability scores. This is done using the point buy system, as detailed in the Player’s Handbook.
- Choose a bloodline. Regardless of which bloodline you choose, add +2 to one ability score of your choice and +1 to one other ability score of your choice. Then, select your desired bloodline traits. For a rundown of the different bloodlines, as well as information about selecting bloodline traits, see Bloodlines.
- Choose a background. You can use an existing background (provided it fits the setting), or create your own. If you need help creating a background, hit me up.
- Choose a class. This is business as usual, really, but if you’ve got any ideas for class/subclass stuff that you want to homebrew, run ‘em by me.
- Choose a feat. You get a bonus feat at level 1. My treat!
- Choose proficiencies.
- Skills. Skills work as normal, with two exceptions. First, Animal Handling and Survival are now one skill, Survival. Second, there is a new Intelligence skill, Engineering, which is a catch-all skill for all things mechanical and structural and which appears on the class skill lists of the following classes: artificer, bard, rogue, and wizard.
- Languages. You start play knowing Common as well as the language of your native country. You might know additional languages thanks to your class or background. For a list of languages, see Languages.
