Durgol

The Durgol were, created before man. By the time humans had begun gathering in loose tribal societies and villages, the Durgol were already building walls of stone, forging iron, and manipulating the Elan.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Short and stout, the Durgol stand at an average height of 4'5". They have solid thick legs and arms giving them superb stability, strength, and endurance, but giving them a slow, but steady pace.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Durgol are few in number. This is, in part, due to their low birth rates. A Durgol couple will typically have, at most, two children their entire lifetimes. Since they live such long lifetimes, to have so few children means that the Durgol are vastly outnumbered by humans on Serrus.

Ecology and Habitats

The Durgol are at home in nature. They live in the woods and in the hills and mountains pf Serrus. This does not mean they do not build cities and towns, they are just more adept at maintaining a friendlier balance with the world around them than humans.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Durgol have an ability to go without food or water for much longer than a human can, although eventually, they need to eat and drink.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

All Durgol men are bearded and take care and pride in them. A beardless Durgol is a grievous shame to a Durgol man. Durgol women have long braided hair and rosy cheeks, but are otherwise of the same stature as their male counterparts.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

All over Serrus, but mostly relegated to the High Peak Mountains and their surrounding forests.

Average Intelligence

Durgol are bright, intelligent, and knowledgeable about nature.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Durgol are at home in the forests and mountains of Serrus. This gives them extreme fortitude to inclement weather. In addition, they have a knack for always knowing their direction and facing under canopies of trees or the depths of a cave.

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

In ancient history, for centuries the Durgol shut off all contact with the humans of Serrus, but in the last few hundred years the Durgol have opened up quite a bit to interaction with humans and a small fraction actually live among them in the towns and cities away from their Krundak. Some however are still extremely xenophobic and the more isolated settlements of Durgol may kill or imprison humans on sight.
Your loud mouth shows your youth and impatience human. I would advise you think and speak more slowly in the next few moments or you may lose a few inches from your tall legs.
