The Silberhecht Regiment
One of the most famous mercenary companies in all of Serrus, the Silberhecht, or Silver Pike regiment, comes from Argau. Run by Captain Yohannes Krugstein, it has fought in more engagements over the last 200 years since its inception than any other regiment, standing or otherwise. Their Banner, a white field with silver trim emblazoned with a cluster of silver pike heads strikes fear in any army opposing them.
The Silberhechts are a pike regiment of about 150 or so men and 40 or so fusiliers. They are comprised of all Argaun individuals whose families have petitioned to the regiment mustering officer each year. Only the best of the hundreds of applicants each year are selected.
And even after being selected, most individuals are weeded out through their rigorous training process. Based out of Lachen, they spend most of their time training for war or selling themselves to other armies around Serrus.
They are known for their extremely fast marches. They have to ability to quickly and skillfully fill a gap in an army’s line or to forced march over many miles of rough terrain to surprise an army on its flank or rear when the opposition thought it impossible to reach such an area.
This skill and talent comes at a high price. Only the richest army can even hope to afford the Silberhechts for any lengthy engagement. Superbly equipped with Shwize Plate and expertly crafted weapons and equipment, each mercenary is worth their weight in ducats.
