Seto Akimori

The family of Akimori: Seto was born in the family of Akimori. His father, Yamada, was a Commander in the shogunate at the time Seto was born and his mother, Kagami, a minister in the imperial court. Seto was the oldest of 3. He was the only son and was meant to be succeeding his father.   When Seto turned 13, Yamada took Seto as his apprentice in becoming a samurai. They trained on end and he even brought Seto to his battles against the barbarians of the north.   At the age of 18 Seto underwent the trials and succeeded thus becoming a samurai. At that time his father had the rank of great general. He was next in line to become Shogun until a few months later when he had led an offensive strike against the barbarians in the north. Little did he know, he was betrayed by Takei Yamato, second in line of becoming the next Shogun. Takei had told the barbarians of the strike and told them to set a trap for Yamada.   When the led his army into the unknown northern regions het was surrounded by a combined force of barbarian clans who destroyed his army. In a last effort to save his honor and that of his family, Yamada performed the ritual of Seppuku. No one ever found out how the barbarians knew of this attack.   Yamada is remembered as a hero and champion of his people. A statue was raised in the great halls of the Shogunate in his memory.   A year later the Shogun, Oku Motoharu, died and Takei Yamato became the new Shogun.

The shift in power:

One day, Seto, now 23 years old, is called for duty by his commander. An army of barbarians has gathered in Funakawa and are ready to storm the imperial palace.   The imperial court and the royal family are held up inside the palace. The Shogunate, under command of Takei Yamato, is guarding the palace. With the most elite of all samurai’s guarding the royal quarters.   Seto, part of the infantry regiment, is ordered to fight the barbarians. After 7 hours of fighting his regiment together with several others accomplish to defeat the barbarian army. What no one realized at that time was that the whole attack, yet again, was orchestrated by Takei Yamato.   After the attack the royal family wouldn’t come out of the royal quarters and it would remain under heavy guard by the most elite samurais of the shogunate. Takei Yamato claimed in the imperial court that the emperor would now speak through him and that he was the only one allowed to enter the royal quarters as he would fear for his life.   What no one knew was that the emperor and his family were being held hostage by Takei Yamato and that he threatened the emperor to kill his family if he didn’t do as Takei Yamato asked thus claiming the power in the empire.   Most ministers of the imperial court were suspicious on what was happening but went along with it. Except for Kagami, Seto’s mother, she knew she had to speak to the emperor. She knew of secret passages leading into the royal quarters and used those to sneak in there.   She spoke to the emperor who told her what was happening, he told her not to tell the rest of the court since Takei Yamato would do anything to stop her. So, she agreed to not tell the court but instead turn to a Great general of the Shogunate, who was a good friend of Yamada, Seto’s father, that goes by the name of Komatsu Sakutaro.   Together they devised a plan that would involve Seto. Seto was to be sent off to the main island of Ortheos to find help in exposing Takei Yamato as the dictator he was.   Seto was lured under false pretenses to great general Sakutaro’s office where he met his mother. They told him what has happened to the emperor and asked him to help.   Without hesitation Seto agreed to the task since his loyalty laid with the emperor and not with a dictator. For his bravery, great general Sakutaro promoted Seto to the rank of elite Samurai.   A few days later he left for the main island…….   The History of Seto Akimori   FAMILY TREE NOT AVAILABLE
