Dragons (or wyrms) are very powerful and magical creatures. There are several types of dragons: white, black, green, blue, and, most notably, red. They are an ancient race. No species can claim longer lineage. Dragons are the apex species across all the known world of Orthun and rule over it with an iron claw. History Little is known about how dragons came to be with any certainty. Dragons themselves would have everyone believe that they have always existed and are as old as time itself. This is somewhat conspicuously discredited by the existence of young dragons who appear from time to time, though still claim to have always existed. Most prudent people tend to accept the dragon's version of history. There are examples of dragon-kind that do lend support to their claim eternalness. Most notably, Pyros, The Dawn Fire is an extremely old and powerful red dragon. He often promotes propaganda and rumors that not only is he as old as the world, but that it was, in fact, he who created the world. It is unknown if Pyros actually has existed since the dawn, but there is no one around who remembers a time when he did not exist. Abilities Dragons became stronger as they grow older; they also become larger, more resistant to damages and magic, have a more dangerous breath, and a great deal of other enhanced aspects. Older dragons can cast draconic magic, such as spells with just a few words, and oftentimes they do not need long and complex ritual involving words, gestures and components like other wizards, and they seem to radiate a mystical fear aura around themselves. All dragons have some innate magical abilities, but they vary from race to race. Dragons also have some innate powers upon the element they are linked to. For example a red dragon, who breathes fire, has some control over other flame. Society All dragons are inherently territorial and covetous. They hoard wealth—although "wealth" could mean different things to different dragons—and jealously protect their hoards. For most dragons, there is no such thing as enough treasure. They enjoy collecting mountains of gold, gems, coins, and magic items. They find these treasures radiant and enticing and will make nooks and beds for themselves in their money piles. Dragons are quick to attack anyone they perceive as a threat to their hoard, even other dragons.
