The Provenance of Zyll

The Graylands are the most desirable region to live for some, there are whispers that the lands are cursed; The ancient battle between Korlo and his Children took place here and left the region permanently scarred. During the day, most of the sun you'll see is a bright grey sky. The entire region is a little foggy and the air carries moisture like nowhere else, hot days are hotter and cold days are colder. Almost nothing grows in Zyll, that which does is bland and dark colored root vegetables and mushrooms mostly. Most people would not choose to live in Graylands, though some move there to live under the cloak of Zyll; Zyll is a Baron unlike any other in the kingdom, he is an undead wizard from a time long past, kept alive long beyond his years my some form of perverse magic. No one quite knows how long Zyll has lived, or how long he has reigned in the Graylands; When Ajax gathered the Barons to form The Black Iron Pact he simply showed up at the meeting unannounced, the other baron elects stated they did not know the Graylands had a baron; and Zyll said he had always been the lord of this region since before the kingdom of Andrim stood, but he was willing to swear fealty to Ajax for more official recognition as his populace was growing and he wanted his people to be taken seriously as residents of the kingdom. Ajax was happy to swear Zyll to his cause, assuming the undead wizard would undoubtedly become a powerful ally should need arise for another wizard.   The region of Zyll consist of one major city, Necropolis; which Zyll rules form his tower in the center, it would seem he may have built the city itself as its "Bone Towers" rise around all sides and the buildings here sport a smooth one single piece of material style that would suggest arcanic architecture. The Necropolis also has a vast undercity in which many of it's sunlight sensitive citizens live and make their way in life, some say the Undercity is growing faster than the upper city and soon will stretch further below than above. There's also a few key settlements outside of the capital, It is also common to see intelligent undead in this area, as zyll often finds subjects in people who die young in life and are grateful to be resurrected into his service as wights or servitors.   Lockgate; A giant walled fortress that serves as a city of sorts for around 500 people. It was at one time King Ormund's great prison for all the foes of his that plagued the land or attempted to disturb the age of peace, the prison was routed 50 years ago when Ajax killed the king, The prisoners stayed or went as they pleased and before long a settlement was established, in the decades since, the settlement has developed into a blooming city of a tough people that have come up in hard circumstances; recently they formerly joined the Provenance and began paying taxes to Lord Zyll; since then the town has exploded and boomed in trade and crop, with zyll delivering on his promise to make crops grow in the fields around the city once their fealty was pledged.   Seaspoke Cove, the coast of Zyll is a black kraggy shore that is nigh impossible to sail with a large ship, the unfortunate souls that live near the shore congregate in the small fishing village of Seaspoke. Small jettys, rafts canoes and other small boats dot the docks of the town as only smaller 1-5 person vessels can navigate the rocky coastline. The ocean here is black as it washes on to the rocky beach, whispers of the town of Seaspoke being home to a cult of worshipers of a creature that lives in the black sea can be heard in the corners of taverns throughout the barony.   Malbara; "The city of Strangers" or "The Sunken City" is a city that seems to be built into the walls of a great sinkhole that leads dead down into the earth, massive stairs descend deep into the caverns as buildings built into the walls of the chasm serve as homes for the residents of this spiral. No one knows the cause of this chasm but near the bottom point there has been rumors of entry into a placed called "The World Below" as one plunges deeper and deeper into the city the things they encounter and the residents become stranger and stranger. Not much is known about how deep the city goes, as many historians who visited could not descended past the second story down into the void. Many mysterious factions and studiers of the far realm reside here, keeping themselves secret from the eye of the Iron Overlord.
