Jona's Wall (Y-oh-nah)

by Earnest William Haslehust, public domain
Jona's Wall, so named for the architect who embedded the protective charms in it that make it so vital, is a truly gargantuan wall erected between the Forged Basin and Mother's Gift in a bid to prevent any leeching of magical effluvia or errant constructs from affecting the crops that so much of Ostelliach relies upon.   The wall was erected in 412, several years after the Finite Architects released the rituals and guidance that enabled mages and artificers like Jona to reaccess their craft.   The wall stretches for nearly 50 miles and is over 10 feet thick throughout, bespelled with wards and repellants against magical sludge, reanimated constructs, vandalism, and weathering. As a bulwark against the wayward magic of the dump heap, it has stood the test of time this far, though as the landfill oozes closer, many are beginning to be apprehensive as to if it will be enough, given the nature of the Forged Basin to seemingly leech magic from outside of the Heap. Only time will tell if the sorcery embedded into each brick will be protected from this arcane erosion.
