Temples of Ostelliach
Each of the temples is dedicated to a specific purpose (previously a specific god).
There are many, many examples but some of the more common ones a traveler might encounter include:
Purpose / Function
The temples serve as worship centers, places of charity, and according to some beliefs, ways to stabilize the leylines of magic in Ostelliach. Both before and after The Breaking, they have served as gathering places for the weary and frightened, places for aid to be sought, places for psychological solace. Depending on the temple, they may also provide services specific to the purpose (once, the god that the temple was for but now the general tenets such as curiosity, creativity etc.).
The natural disasters and magical dangers of Ostelliach are noticeably lessened in the vicinity of a temple (give or take approximately 1 mile). This means places with more temples, like cities, are inherently safer than rural locations with no temples. Some take this as evidence that the temples stabilize The Web and some see it as evidence that the gods are still with us today.
Architecture
The temples were (and still largely are in their rebuilt phases) large stone buildings. They typically have wide open windows and doors set open at all times day or night, with plenty of seating inside as well as alcoves that split off for private chambers, specific services, storage etc. They are always round, with large columns and archways lit by many torches. Usually they include soft rugs and other comforts.
