The Stone

In traditional Dwarf society in the west, both the gods and magic are anathema. If these dwarves worship anything, it is the Stone and Earth in which they live. The Stone surrounds them, it supports them, and gives them everything they need. Their spirits originate in the Stone, and returns to it upon death, so long as they maintain a connection with it. For this reason, Dwarves fear exile more than death. In death, their spirits return to the Stone, regardless of the life they lived while alive. In exile, they are driven from their homes, and without a consistent connection, lose their ties to the Stone.
