Laird Aleck Beygar
Laird Aleck Beygar
“Meg, I know you’ve feelings for the boy, but it makes no difference.” Laird Beygar speaks gently, but as he rises to his feet, he turns a blazing glare upon Laird Sadach. “He’s an ignorant fool, just like his master. Only a raging fool would knight a mute slave, Sadach.” The Laird spits.-- OUTSPOKEN, Book One, Chapter 16
Overview
Laird Beygar is first seen in the OUTSPOKEN trilogy defending his daughter, Lady Meg Beygar after what could have been a fatal misadventure in book one. He is the weakest of the Lairds of Éirigh, and has spent most of his life steps away from poverty, despite his title. Laird Breith Sadach and The New Order hounded him to join them for years, as his land provided the clearest path for their military to infiltrate the The King's Lands, but he walked a fine line, refusing to pick a side and working hard to remain friendly to both the New Order and the Loyalists. That is, until tragedy struck at the end of book one, leading him to throw everything he had into ruining the New Order and their plans.

A lengthy brown beard and broad frame that gives him the feeling of a warm father that would go to the ends of the earth to make his children happy, and would vanquish anything that dares threaten them. He is so set on giving his daughters a better life, that he forgets a better life means more than prosperity. Their voices and happiness are often left out of the equation until it's too late, and he is too focused on the future to learn from the past.

Family Ties
Mannerisms
His deep belly laugh is well known throughout the kingdom.

He speaks in low, rumbly tones that perfectly suit him and his station. Regal, but easily trampled over.
Relationships
History
Laird Beygar, seeking to better his daughter's life, offered to make Laird Tremaine the heir to his estate as dowery for Sarah's hand in marriage. Laird Tremaine, however, had been raised to look down on the Beygar family as a poor example of nobility. Seeing Laird Tremaine's reluctance at the offer, Laird Beygar sweetened the pot by proposing he act as an ambassador to Laird Sadach. Upon winning a regular charter of clothing and goods for Laird Tremaine, the marriage was arranged. While neither has great affection for the other, their connection through Sarah has made them strong allies.
Wealth & Financial state
Perhaps the poorest of the Lairds of Éirigh, through no fault of his own. He is a thrifty man, but despite his title and his constant work to better the lands he's been given, his family is constantly on the brink of ruin.
