The Great Alliance

Overview

The Great Alliance was signed into law around the year 1315, following a series of attacks from the bordering kingdoms seeking to expand into the No Man's Lands that used to encompass Éirigh. The Lairds united together in order to drive back the forces of Abhainn and Coimeádach, and found great strength in their newfound allies. When their efforts proved successful, the Court of Lairds was formed, and elected to form a new kingdom together under the leadership of King Slánaitheoir I, who had first rallied them to join forces.

Together, King Slánaitheoir I and The Court of Lairds crafted The Great Alliance, setting forth the structures that would form The Feudal Alliance System and governance of The Kingdom of Éirigh. From that point forward, the kingdom would function as a collection of Lairds governing their own lands, bound together by the guidance of a King speaking for the people and a promise of peace written in blood.

This is really interesting - did any of the lairds object or was it rather unanimous? :)

It was unanimous. I go into more detail about it in the Feudal Alliance System article. :)
