Personal history

Shao Su, as all Exemplars, was chosen as a child to bond with a dragon. He was paired with a gold wyrmling named Yunbei (Cloudback). Together they trained for years under the tutelage of the masters. When he came of age, Shao Su was declared heir to the throne by his father, Shao Xi. Shao Su and Yunbei doubled their effort as they prepared to take on the mantle of rulership. Though pressured to find a partner before he became Dawnfather, Shao Su instead dedicated himself to his studies.
He and Yunbei completed the Exemplar trials a year early. After some pushing they managed to get themselves put on The Dawn's Wings, scouting parties that ranged along the edges of the Dynasty's reach. The Shattered Lands to the west proved little in the way of resources but they were forbidden to travel further for fear of instigating a war they did not have the resources to fight.
Only a few years after joining The Dawn's Wings, Shao Xi died peacefully in his sleep and Shao Su was crowned as the new Dawnfather.

Shao Su wants what's best for his people and intends to move the five islands to better lands where resources are more abundant. Until his mages discover the best way to move the islands, however, he will do whatever it takes to keep his people alive.
