Modern Musician's Guild of Chemnos
Chemnos is not content to simply have guilds. They must be considered modern and chic and must do everything possible to avoid associating with the more ancient style guilds that go with the countries with fantasy aesthetics. Never mind that the function is entirely the same.
There are a lot of musicians in Chemnos, due in no small part to the presence of Overkha, a city famous for being so musical that it's literally built as a musical instrument. The guild was an essential method of controlling what is historically a rather temperamental and creative population of people who are not destined to make much money, for the most part.
The rules of guild membership are simple. There are select event halls and performance venues within Chemnos where one is not allowed to perform for money unless one is a guild member. The dues are small, but they can get away with this for the sheer volume of musicians in Chemnos.
Also, since a lot of them get their start in Chemnos, they're more likely to start there, join the guild, and then forget to stop the autopay option when they move away. Never underestimate the monetary possibilities in carelessness.
The guild is an equal opportunity space and allows all species to join. Some chapters will also expect some kind of audition to prove basic musical competency, but most don't really care as long as you're willing to pay the dues on time.
The leadership of the guild is supposedly democratic since that tends to be a signpost of a modern guild, but in practice the position has been handed down within one family for generations. The exact family is not a matter of public record, due to their wish to avoid certain tax laws.
