New Baldrick
New Baldrick is a town on the verge of either disaster or greatness. Matched by tiny neighbor Little Baldrick, it is the only place in Chemnos that follows a medieval aesthetic, as opposed to a steampunk vibe. They are also the only dwarvish settlement in Chemnos. They are also the only ones to live in this particular volcanic caldera since who else would want to live in a volcano? (Outside of Prazigal, that is.)
With most of the population being dwarves, they stand out a bit in the annual Chemnos census. They're quite accepting of outsiders, but visitors should be prepared to have their secrets exhumed, by force if necessary. Baldrickans are notoriously nosy.
The town has seven main districts in the part of the town above the surface. Most of it is rather rundown, having existed with little repair since the town's founding around two hundred years ago. The exception to this is the two sections that deal primarily with trade and other mercantile dealings. Those are in excellent condition.
There is a monument not far away from the town that has nothing to do with the town itself, but is nonetheless a draw for tourists. The Iron Pyramid is made of metal, as the name might suggest, but the real attraction is the fact that it is entirely upside down.
New Baldrick stands out from the rest of Chemnos, and that won't last much longer. They're on the verge of succumbing to pressure and fitting the standard aesthetic. Of course, they're also on the verge of setting off the volcano they live on, entirely deliberately, so it's anyone's guess as to which will come first.

Setting off a volcano?? Eesh, remind me not to piss off those nosy dwarves!
