Avarus

"...Oh no! how will we get this dragon out of our cave...?"

Avarus is a young and moody dragon. He’s about 200 years old, which makes him about the same age as a human teenager.

Like most creatures approaching maturity, he’s grumpy, sleepy and bad-tempered and blames everyone and everything else for why he’s grumpy, sleepy and bad-tempered.

Apart from all these things, Avarus is also greedy. Because he is so young, he does not have any treasure or a place to put it.

He spends his time hunting for gold and for a suitable cave to live in so he can enjoy the giant hoard that he has always dreamed of having.

When they are not being moody or bad-tempered, dragons can be quite clever and unexpectedly polite.

It usually takes a few thousand years before they can really settle down and think properly about things (without all that nonsense of breathing fire and terrorising local woodland creatures), which is why you rarely see any ancient dragons.

Most of these older dragons are really quite sensible and live on a small group of islands far away from civilisation, enjoying good weather and fine lunches.
