Material Characteristics

Large blocks of white Calcite, with small veins of dark black Ebonstone, a sedimentary rock also common to the Bellowing Slopes, and dark red veins of Keskil  that formed in the Bellowing Slopes, though not enough or common enough to be mined for specifically like in the Crimison Peaks.
The Clifam Red Marble is extremely heat resistant, attributing to its high melting point, where only Dragon Fire can melt it easily, and is very cold to the touch. Because of this it is often used in kitchens for the counter tops, stopping food from getting too warm, and it is very smooth and unporous, making it very easy to clean and wont allow food or smells to seep into the counter over time like wood would.

Geology & Geography

Clifam Red Marble is found in the region of Cliffstald in Erendoc, and is named after the regions large reservoir, and is mined from the foothills surrouding the Belowing Slopes.

History & Usage

History

Historically Clifam Red Marble was a prized construction material used by the Ivory Order, and buildings that date back that far will still have large portions built out of the marble, espically temples and places of power/governance built by the Ivory Order. Because of this history, use of the marble in Westoran was prohibited in the years following the Dark Star Rebellion, the people identifing the material with the Ivory Order itself.

Everyday use

Clifam Red Marble is often used as a construction material for all manor of items, from kitchen counters and trade worktops to statues and pillars.

Trade & Market

Many stonemasons in Clifam buy the blocks from the nearby quarries, some owning the quarries themselvers, and then opperate export and shipping companies to send the marble across Erendoc and to the other continents by ships.
