Fire Macaw

The fire macaw is known to be a natural "team worker". They fly in small groups searching for tropical and dry fruits, sometimes stealing them from other smaller species when they consider it's easy enough. These birds are similar to macaws although they have very contrasting shades of red and orange in their feathers. The Kukai think of these animals as symbols of intelligence and charisma, which is why many of the lar consider them very special. Finding a fire macaw feather in the ground is considered a sign of great luck, specially if it's found near a village.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The fire macaw got its name from the contrasting shades of red and orange in their feathers. These are a medium sized bird species with a curved peck, which they use to break dry fruits. Different to other birds of a similar species, the fire macaw's peck is relatively of a yellowish-orange color.

Ecology and Habitats

The fire macaws can be found in most of the tropical rain forest, specially near the central region. Although they are a common sight on the Kukai roads, these birds rarely fly near the kukai settlements, probably because the Bat consider them a potential threat to the farms and immediately scare them away.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Just like regular macaws, these are a flying herbivore species. Their diet consists of fruits, nuts, seeds and some types of flowers. Some of the herbs and flowers eaten by the fire macaw are known to be poisonous, though they are able to digest them without any trouble.
