Onira

The legendary champion

Onira Mer was a legendary fighter of the kukai Classical Era. She had two children with Hon, one of the first embodiments of Oal-Mer; their children are Rebeka and Yak. She is known as "the legendary champion" by all of the Kukai.
She was born in Oalmer as the only child of her family and was trained to become a fighter at an early age. Onira decided to officially become a Mer after earning her first victory during a combat ritual at the age of 16. Ever since, Onira remained undefeated until the age of 61, when she lost to a young female prodigy named Naroi. This is the only known defeat ever recorded for the legendary champion.
Onira was known to be one of the few disciplined fighters of the classical era who dedicated all of her time to combat training. Her routines at The great lake were considered out of the ordinary, extreme and sometimes even unhealthy. However, Onira lived a healthy life until the very end, dying of old age as the eldest kukai of her time; 140 years old.
One of the most remembered facts about Onira was her extremely long hair, which actually reached the floor. She considered the hair a great obstacle to overcome, as it limited her movement and gave opponents various advantages. This way of thinking sums up almost everything about Onira and only her daughter, Rebeka, would do something similar to this.
During the last years of her life, Onira retired from combat and became the first master of the newly born kukai martial arts. Her experience and teachings allowed many of the young Mer to develop their skills to a completely new level. Because of this, some combat rules and characteristics of the arenas were eventually changed.
