Aftermath
General Summary
Tiff, Rico, Enam and Ashertiel met up in Xiomara, to set out to see what damage the recent storm that passed through the city had caused. Rico and Enam went out asking people in the city, gathering what information that could be found. Luckily, the city itself was fairly undamaged due to some magical protections as well but there were murmurings about a storm god being upset over the barriers the city had placed against itself. As they reconvene to talk about their findings, a storm erupts overhead, causing a large downpour, crackling thunderstorms, and strong winds.
Tiff, able to determine the storm itself was caused by magic, suggests that it is being cast near the cathedral, and it is the most central location in town. On the way there, they passed by an angry crowd making their way to the Ashen Keep. Following the disgruntled townsfolk, a small mob outside was demanding that the mages that stopped the previous storm be expelled from the city, fearing the rage of gods. Enam spoke in front of the crowd, calming them and eventually dispersing the group, but also finding out some useful information; the city had been stirred up by a grouping of clerics who worship Talos.
The group tracked down the clerics to a small gathering on the streets. Approaching them, they learned from some civilians that the Talos worshippers had mentioned there was an evacuation space in a warehouse by the docks, and they had planned to leave the city. As the party grew closer to the doomsayers, guarded by a menacing lizardfolk, they were preaching the dangers of angering Talos. Rico attempted to up to the preachers, but the lizardfolk jumped in his way. After a threatening statement by Rico, a fight broke out in the streets, with the cultists ending on the losing side. The party managed to capture one alive, who told them one of the Talos high priests, Knox Browning, was in Xiomara, and that they had worked out some sort of deal with a Tiefling named Gallanak for the evacuees.
After throwing the surviving cultist in prison, they turned their attention to the docks in town making their way to the warehouse. Outside, they noticed a line of people going in single file to the building. Persuasively, Enam talked the grouping of people to disperse, and return home promising their city will protect them like they always have. Tiff, noticed a trap that enchanted the people walking into the building, diffused it, and the party attempted to go inside and give off the idea that they were under the spell’s influence. Walking inside, they noticed a teleportation circle along with another Talos cultist wearing the garb of his god. Deceiving the high priest, the party dispatched him with ease. Rico grabbed his corpse, and they made their way through the teleportation circle.
On the other side of the circle, the party found themselves out in the desert region, amongst cages and a caravan ready to take them out. Upon seeing the tiefling, Enam successfully charms the person who tells them he is in fact Gallanak, and he had planned on making them more compliant before selling them off in the nearby city of Kishdanhar. He offered to let them go for a steal - 50gp a head. Rico threatened him, saying that if he let them go he would simply not kill him where he stood. Gallanak attempted a deception of stating they had explosive collars set to go off should anything happen to him, but he was willing to negotiate. Tiff saw through this ruse, and informed the party, and Rico immediately pulled his blade. Gallanak attempted to talk his way into peaceful negotiations, however Rico and Tiff both decided against allowing him to live. Dispatching him and his hired hands, they freed the captured citizens of Xiomara, and made way for transportation to get them all home.
