Emerald Spire - The Tower Ruins
General Summary
Terri waited in the Death Dells Tavern for people to show up and go adventuring. She was met by Telivi, who didn’t want to stay inside the tavern. (It was, like, totally not a very nice place. I mean, like, ew, they serve elf blood as a drink!) They were soon met by Rubrum and the three of them headed north toward Warhaven, hoping to spot the place to go. Next to the turn off toward Maggie's Haberdashery, Telivi and Terri noticed a pillar of emerald green smoke out in the plains. Heading that way they soon came to a prominent hill upon which a pair of tents were set. Standing next to a green fire was an old man who introduced himself as Abernard. He started to try and talk to them when he was interrupted by an even older man who came bustling out of the other tent. Introducing himself as Smaragdus, he asked if they were there to try a dungeon. Stating that they were, he charged them each a fee of 200gp to attempt The Tower Ruins. Telivi paid her fee, Rubrum paid for himself and Terri. Smaragdus then cast a spell which created a glowing circle on the ground, telling them to step within it to enter the dungeon.
Before they entered, Abernard called them over to talk. He told them he has been following Smaragdus around for years, trying to learn the secrets of these dungeons, and offered the players a reward for any information they might be able to glean about the place while there. He admitted that he has learned about all he needs to know of the first level, which they were headed to, but suggested they return later if they survive and bring him information. Questioning him for information, he told them that light is greatly reduced by magic inside the first dungeon, so it would be dark and hard to see. He also told them that goblins inhabited that dungeon.
Stepping into the circle, they appeared on a path leading into darkness. As they made their way up the path, they were attacked by goblins. The fought their way almost non-stop through the darkness. A goblin triggered a cave-in on Terri, Rubrum narrowly escaped. They fought a pair of undead goblins as well. Making their way up a set of stairs next to a glowing pillar of crystal, they found a bugbear hiding behind a reinforced door, who fired arrows through an arrow slot at them. Defeating him, they headed back downstairs and found a goblin working on a construct, which attacked them. Defeating him, they found a scroll in a bedroom to one side, they then realized they had been through the entire dungeon. Heading back outside, they found a teleportation circle waiting for them. Stepping into it, they found themselves once again in blinding sunlight, with the two old men waiting form them. Smaragdus congratulated them on their success, and immediately headed back into his tent. Abernard helped them to identify a few objects they had found, including a partially depleted wand, a magic ring and a scroll which has something to do with the ability of Smaragdus to teleport the tower around. He offered the party money for the scroll and gave them back the rest.
