Exploration - Havens J16 - Business venture
General Summary
Milo payed Azim to help him explore a some of the plains east of The Kingdom of Fjordhaven. Paying for Tiff to teleport them to Fjordhaven, they collected Kevin and headed north to explore. They travelled without incident, staying overnight in Stag's Redoubt, then travelling into the plains the next day. On their second night out, they made camp. Kevin and Milo went to sleep while Azim stood watch. A couple of hours into his watch, he heard the sounds of a cart approaching. He woke Milo up and soon a wagon with three people in it pulled up, seeking protection from a huge beast who had slain the rest of their caravan train. The three men introduced themselves as Bradford Holt, Weston Riddle and their bodyguard and wagon driver, Durn. Milo and Azim welcomed them into their camp and made plans to fight the creature, which Azim recognized as a Bulette (from the descriptions given him by the merchants).
When the creature did not show up that night, they set out in the morning with Durn, trusting in Kevin to keep the other two safe. After a couple of hours, they came across the scene of the last attack, finding an overturned cart, a partially eaten horse and two partially eaten humanoids. Checking out this carnage was a female gnoll. She introduced herself as Misha Goretongue, stating that she was here to hunt a large beast who had slain her pack. The party joined forces with her and struck out north to hunt the bulette. They finally caught up to the beast near a stream, toward the end of the day. Azim suggested a clever plan of distraction and ambush, but Misha Goretongue decided that charging straight in was a better plan for her, so she did so. The group engaged the bulette by the stream. At first, the bulette managed to get under the ground and burst out, dealing terrible blows upon both Misha Goretongue and Azim, but it could not stand up the terrible onslaught of blows which rained down on it afterward.
Having felled the beast, Misha Goretongue set about skinning the beast, claiming her part of the prize. Milo invited her to form a new pack with him, which she happily agreed to, sharing a meal of the bulette's heart to seal the union. After this ritual, they returned to the camp to collect Kevin and the merchants. Milo then invited the merchants to join him in his venture to form a new kingdom to bridge the gap between the Sandswept Desert and The Havens. After some discussion about roles, the two merchants agreed to join.
The next morning, Azim left the group, returning to Abkheset, while the rest headed out to build the new settlement of Traders Cusp in the newly formed kingdom Tetrodora.
The Kingdom Game Section:
Upkeep
The newly formed kingdom had some hiccups in its first fledgling steps, causing some minor unrest in the new kingdom.
Edict
While the kingdom is lacking in many leadership roles, they had no one new to enlist. Pushing on with what they had, they built farms to support their new city. They also decided to keep with normal taxation rates, as well as not pushing too hard to establish the new laws an constitution on the people.
Income
The economic expertise of the leadership proved its mettle, with the kingdom pulling in a perfect levy of taxes.
Event
Perhaps because it is so new, nothing out of the ordinary has happened yet to this fledling kingdom.
