Feral Intruder

General Summary

The citizens of Emancipation had posted to the boards that they were under attack by a bear. Meako, seeking to aid his empire's vassal, gathered friends and non-friends to join him in his efforts. Meeting up with Meako at his farm were Nightfall, Prim, and Bullgup. Nihilus, the final member who had signed up to join them, tarried. Not willing to wait on the Sovereign, the group decided to head to Emancipation as they had no way of knowing how bad the situation was. Prim traveled with Bullgup via travel with plants. Meako and Nightfall teleported to Emancipation town square.   Meanwhile, Nihilus had decided to bypass meeting up with the group per instructions and traveled inside the belly of his colossal undead beast while it burrowed it's way from West Haven to Emancipation. He arrived safely into the town square of Emancipation to find it burning. Most buildings were on fire and in the midst stood a grizzly bear, on it's hind feet, wearing armor, with two warcats by his side. The bear growled at Nihilus and commanded the warcats to attack, giving him a chance to escape. Nihilus sent Musashi after the bear but Musashi was too slow, just glimpsing the bear disappearing into a tree with a human male.   For some time, Nihilus attempted to fight off the warcats himself, but it wasn't until Meako and Nightfall arrived via teleport that the fight turned in his favor. Together they defeated the warcats and started making attempts at dousing the fire in all the buildings. Nihilus instructing his colossal undead to smash in buildings as a way to smother the fire. The sounds of screaming children echoed from a barricaded meeting house.   One thousand feet away, on the coastline, Bullgup and Prim stepped out of a tree to find the beach strewn with dead bodies and being patrolled by an elder ice elemental. In the distance, it was noticable that a ship had departed the shore moments earlier. Bullgup told Prim to head toward the smoke and help with the fire, he'd take care of the ice elemental. Unbeknownst to him a second elder ice elemental was hiding under the snow. Bullgup transformed into a fire elemental and was able to hold his own for a bit but eventually succumbed and lay dying on the beach. Prim flying as fast as her wings would carry her to the site of all the smoke.   Meako and Nightfall were busy putting out the fire while Nihilus and Musashi rescued the children. Teleporting a few of them at a time, Nihilus transported all twelve children to his temple in West Haven. Once within range, Prim deftly cast a quench spell, dousing the remaining fires. Three adults, who were trapped in their homes, were saved. Nihilus questioned the survivors, but they were not able to give him much to go on other than they were cowards who hid once violence started.   Prim led the party back to the beach to assist Bullgup. Finding him down, Prim cured him enough to revive him, and together the party destroyed the ice elementals. Now that they had a moment to breath, discussion broke out over what happened? Musashi and Nihilus gave a description of the bear and the spellcaster in the woods and everyone else immediately recognized the pair as Apophis Brown the druid and Benson the BarBEARian. The two had been encountered separately by Meako, Prim, Bullgup, and Nightfall. It was not a happy account that they were seeminly working together now.   Nihilus, seeing an opportunity, teleported onto the sailing ship with the surviving members of Telestria. Speaking with Myrinoc Whitebow, Ruler of Telestria, he attempted to win her to his side. She expressed her gratitude for his willingness to save her town but insisted that Telestria would be seeking refuge in Arbour. Although she smiled and gave her thanks for their "rescue" she was not happy to hear that Nihilus had transported Emancipation children to West Haven. No longer having need to stay, Nihilus and Musashi traveled back home to West Haven.   Meako, Nightfall, and Bullgup returned to Xiomara while Prim made her way to Silver City. Meako made sure to escort the surviving adults of Emancipation to Xiomara and set about making arrangements for the city to take in refugees.   Empire Notes:
200 remaining Telestrian citizens, plus the full empire council, arrive by sailing ship in Xiomara seeking refuge.
The town of Emancipation has been devasted. Only the meeting house and a handful of small residences survived the destruction.
West Haven has rescued (or is harboring) one dozen Emancipation orphans.
