He Must be Stopped
General Summary
Bothered that a mage was flexing powers potentially greater than his, Nihilus gathered his Chosen and left the confines of The Sovereignty to venture into Traders Cusp in search of information that could lead them to the Mad Mage's lair. It was there that enemies set aside differences in order to save Pandora. For the first time in an extensively long time Nihilus, Grud, Runa, Raffyr, Tiff, Elliot, and Azim managed to exist in the same space without violence. The Arbour Kingdom, Traders Cusp, and The Sovereignty came together to save the world.
Vin, a member of the Organization, was present at the tavern and managed to find his way into the (rather tense) conversation. Vin explained that the Mad Mage's defenses were occupied. And so the party split up (definitely out of strategy and not because they couldn't work together peacefully). Nihilus and his Chosen headed to the Mad Mage's lair and found themselves wandering around a teleportation maze, resulting in Grud getting trapped in the Mad Mage's inner sanctum.
The rest of the party arrived at the mage's lair without much struggle and, after a bit of squabbling, entered the Mad Mage's realm.
Expecting an assault, the mage's prepped disjunction spell was triggered, disabling much of the parties prepped spells and destroying many of their items. Their confidence knocked out of them, the party, to their horror, realized that the missing councilors from each kingdom were present and under the control of the Mad Mage. They must fight against their own people.
The fight was severe. The Mad Mage, always seeming to be one step ahead, attacked the party via ritual spells. Nihilus, fearing failure, decided to retreat. Before doing so, he threw a gem on the ground, freeing the thunder behemoth trapped within. Thinking this would be the distraction he needed to make a quick escape with his Chosen, he was admittedly surprised to find that his planned failed. Although he did manage to grab Grud and escape, Runa was eaten whole, dying moments later. The thunder behemoth only added to the chaos resulting in the retreat of the rest of the party.
The thunder behemoth, now the "pet" of the Mad Mage, was trapped forever in The Void.
