Helping Mama - Missive Stone Necklace
General Summary
Meako hadn't visited Mama Oda in a while and so he gathered a group of Covak, Nightfall, and Rufus, to travel by mount from Xiomara all the way down to Willowdale to visit Mama Oda in her new home. The trek took five days and along the way they met up with a pair of Ettercaps and a group of bandits that have been terrorizing The Havens. Nightfall was able to capture one of the bandits and charmed him into revealing the name of his clan as the Brotherhood of Balance. The Brotherhood's goal was revealed to be "bringing balance to The Havens by taking and giving." Nightfall learned that the local chapter that these recruits were working out of was located at the mountain base north-east of Lakeside (Hex QQ49).
Once arriving in Willowdale the party entered Mama Oda's tent to be met with a sickening thick smoke. Mama Oda was pleased to see Covak and Meako but was hesitant of the newcomers. After giving instructions the party set out into the swamp with one of Mama's birds as a guide. The party came upon an old dwarven gentleman who offered them a place to rest and relax but Rufus was not to be fooled. The old man turned out to be a Faceless Stalker in disguise and barely had a chance to strike before Covak knocked him down.
Finally, the party was able to locate the site of a small band of goblins who had been collecting debris from Havenbreaker, the hurricane that tore through Pandora last summer. After destroying the trash goblins, the party was able to dig out the necklace Mama Oda had sent them after. Nightfall adequately saw the necklace to be a magic object and cautiously refused to carry it. Rufus took it but realized that his speed was halved once they started back for Mama Oda's. Covak, being the friend he is, threw Rufus up on his shoulders to give the goblin a break from the walk. However, he also discovered that his speed was halved. No other ill effects were experienced but it took the party quite a bit longer to make it back to Willowdale than it should have.
Mama Oda thanked the party for their work in retrieving her item and welcomed them back for any future quests or help that she could provide.
