Helping Mama - Pirate Thieves
General Summary
Stelio decided to put together a party to help Mama Oda in retrieving a stolen item. He asked any interested in joining to meet him in Warhaven, and so Rhal and Terri traveled from West Haven only to end up traveling back south. Brogach, in the habit of following Stelio around, was already located in Warhaven. Taking a rowboat into the swamps, they were welcomed into Mama Oda’s home by an odd looking man with a smile plastered on his lifeless face. Brogach took a moment to decide that he was a fine chap, and entered Mama Oda’s house with no worries. Mama Oda quickly covered up something on a table to welcome her new guests. She explained to them that some visiting pirates had stolen a portrait of hers and asked that the traveler’s retrieve it. Heading back into New Saltmarsh, the party rented a ship’s boat to head out to sea. They came upon an anchored sailing ship crawling with the pirates they were searching for. Rhal signaled to parlay while Stelio decided to take the stealth approach by swimming toward the ship. Brogach and Terri spent some time trying to ready and conceal weapons. Everyone wanted to be friends! The adventurers were welcomed aboard and after some small talk, Rhal stabbed the spellcaster and people started dying! Terri threw an axe at the buccaneer in the crow’s nest, rendering him useless, Rhal proved his stick wasn’t just a stick, Stelio climbed out of the water and started firing off arrows, and Brogach provided moral support. The party returned to New Saltmarsh with the pirate ship, sold it, turned the remaining pirates in to the authorities, and then headed back into the swamp to return Mama Oda’s portrait. A few poisonous frogs caused a problem and Brogach took constitution damage. Mama Oda offered her services and restored Brogach’s constitution damage as well as some residual energy drain. She thanked the travelers, paid them, and invited them back.
