Lost But Not Forgotten
General Summary
Newly returned to Pandora, Savin decided to try to find who among his old friends was still alive. Having learned about Enam's death, and the subsequent disappearance of Lia, Enam's cohort and business partner, he was determined to find her and finalize putting Enam to rest. Joining him for this quest was the newly reborn Tiff, as well as Nightfall.
To start off their quest, the group met in Stag's Ballad, at Enam's Wonderful, Excellent Wands. There, they spoke to the staff about Lia's disappearance, to try and gather some clues as to where she could have gone. Unfortunately, the last the staff had heard from her, she had been traveling east fromt he Black Forest, meaning she could have been just about anywhere. According to Enam's will, her next stop should have been on the Stoney Coast. Clearly impatient with the lack of information, Tiff asked if she could use the research room to cast a spell, and used sending to try and contact Lia directly. This worked, and Tiff received a message from Lia, being told that Lia was actually in the ancient pyramid in the Sandswept Desert. She was also warned to be careful, as access to the pyramid is denied. Once this information was shared, the group decided to teleport to Sheje, to see what else they could learn.
In Shedje, the party noticed that it was overcast, which is strange for the desert. On top of that, missing posters were obvious throughout the city. Tiff and Savin split up in order to find out what they could learn about the strange weather and the posters, but they were disappointed to learn that no one in the city seemed to understand what was going on either, and that the people were nervous and scared. Meanwhile, Nightfall used a spell to see if she could determine the cause, but to no avail. Stymied in their attempt to solve these mysteries, the party decided to make their way on foot to the ancient pyramid of Amun-Re.
It had been a few years since Tiff had last approached the pyramid, and since then the desert had begun to bloom. Arriving at the pyramid, they discovered the source of the rivers in the Sandswept Desert, a large fountain, gushing water in the parched desert. On the base of the fountain, they discovered a plaque, which read: "Thanks to the heroic efforts of Runa Fireblossom, Tiff , Azor Wremin, Raffyr Greezaat, Rico Wyvernspur and Jaxom, life has returned to the desert. By breaking the ancient Pharaoh’s curse in the pyramid, they released the living waters which have allowed Abkheset to rise from the ashes and thrive here in the Sandswept Desert." While Tiff was reading this plaque, Savin stepped forward toward the steps leading up to the temple which is the entrance to the pyramid. Immediately, a voice from the top of the steps told him to halt. They were informed that if they wanted entrance to the temple, they needed direct permission from the Pharaoh. Thinking quickly, Tiff asked if that applied to her as well, sharing her name. This information excited the man, and he asked them to wait. He rushed inside and about 20 minutes later, another man exited the temple, and rushed down the stairs to meet Tiff. Identifying himself as Rayd al-Rashid, he shook Tiff's hand for an uncomfortably long amount of time, clearly a fan-boy meeting his hero.
After some conversation, they made it clear that they were there to get Lia back. Unwilling to part so easily with such a valuable slave, Rayd named a price of 5,000 gold pieces for them to purchase her. Savin offered to trade his collection of pistols, but Rayd made it clear that he wanted gold, not something he'd have to sell. When the party hesitated, Rayd, knowing that ancient texts were missing form the pyramid, offered to trade Lia for the Tome of Amun-Re, which Tiff had lifted from the pyramid years before. Luckily, Tiff had not taken that ancient tome out adventuring when she had disappeared, so she was able to get Arel to find it in her personal collection. The deal was made, with trade set the next day. So the party teleported back to Xiomara so that Tiff, Arel and Nightfall could work together to translate and transcribe the tome, so that they would not lose the knowledge.
The following morning, they returned to the pyramid and successfully traded the Tome of Amun-Re for Lia. After a scathing rebuke from Lia for Tiff's shameful treatment of Enam's memory, they returned to Stag's Ballad and had a cathartic memorial party for Enam at the Bard's Respite Inn. After this, they parted ways, Tiff returning to Draconia, Nightfall to Xiomara. Savin decided to remain in Stag's Ballad.
