Oh we Need to Kill This Guy
General Summary
Escaping with his life, and Grud's body, Nihilus returned to West Haven. After reviving Grud, they spent time licking their wounds and strategizing for their return trip to visit the Mad Mage. Unfortunately, they did not make it in time.
Everyone else rallied quickly and returned to fight the Mad Mage, as well as the Thunder Behemoth, but the gift Nihilus deposited to the battlefield was nowhere to be found. Setting aside concern for the Thunder Behemoth, the remaining party engaged in combat with the injured mage. While Elliot kept the Mad Mage at bay, Azim drew the ire of the strange statues around the room. Tiff worked diligently to both assist the party and disrupt the mage's efforts. The party realized that the statues seemed to revive the Mad Mage from death, and so Rico focused his attention on destroying them, much to the Mad Mage's dismay. Seeing the success of his efforts, Raffyr joined alongside Rico to see the statues destroyed faster. Panic arose in the Mad Mage as the entire party followed Rico and Raffyr's lead.
With the statues destroyed, the Mad Mage's ritual had gone awry. Desperate to maintain his plans the mage attempted to stablize the ritual. He was thwarted as the party worked as one to destroy the ritual, causing an explosion of magical energy, that left behind nothing but broken arcane machinery and cinders.
Not satisfied that the Mad Mage was through, Elliot scanned the room for magical auras, dispelling any that he found. Once all auras were dispelled, the Thunder Behemoth, which had previously been banished, was revived and began it's rampage anew. Not wanting to engage the Thunder Behemoth again, the party made for their escape. Everyone except Tiff made it out alive. Tiff, sadly, was slain.
