Protecting the Endangered
General Summary
Belron heard about a rare magical plant. a rare willow tree, that was at risk of being endangered by loggers in the area destroying the natural habitat from a wandering traveler by the name of Apophis Brown. To stop this act, he asked his student Ashertiel for assistance, during a break from learning about Mielikki. They scoured the nearby area looking for a few others, noting who seemed actually competent enough to assist. Finding Rico, they followed him to Tiff's office, and, after some coercion Belron agreed to allow Tiff to accompany the rest of the party.
After casting some spells to return home should the situation turn dire, they set off on in the direction outside of Xiomara's borders, to the forests they heard the loggers were at.
When they arrived, they found a few dwarves cutting down trees, and a trio of fire mages burning away underbrush, the party sprung into action. Rico landing behind one of the mages, and Belron threatening the leader of the expedition. They loggers stand down, and the party took quite some time determining what to do with them, as they have not broken any law being outside Arbour laws. Eventually, in exchange for not being killed by Rico and Belron, some of the loggers returned to town to retrieve saplings to plant. During the coversation, he reveals that he felt cheated, as he was told by a druid named Apophis that this area was okay to log. While the loggers went into town with Rico and Ashertiel a few of the fire mages, as well as the leader of the encampment managed to escape, running for their lives using teleportation spells. One of them, under heavy guard, was not as Lucky to make it out. As the caravan with the loggers returned, they quickly got to work replanting the tree that had been cut down.
After the remaining loggers had made their way home, the group decided to continue into the forest, looking for the rare willow tree that was said to be left in the forest. The party took into the air, scanning the area for their goal. After about an hour of travel, they came across a great willow tree standing in ruination. As they landed and approached the tree, it let out a great droning sound, putting Rico and Ashertiel into a deep lethargic state, pulling itself up from its roots, and approaching the party. Continuing to fight, Tiff and Belron attempt to take on the diseased tree, however during the fight, Belron was fell in battle, his corpse eaten by the tree that was now bleeding acid.
Tiff, not wanting to fight the creature solo, quickly teleported the rest of her remaining party away so that they may recover. Taking a moment to rest, the party took a moment to talk through the strategy to fight the creature, quickly cast some buff spells, and re-engaged the tree. With the entire party fighting together, the Willow Dusk was no match for their combined efforts. They searched the remains of the tree, however were unable to find any trace of Belron, the acid being too strong to have kept a body around.
Returning to town, they sought the efforts of a true resurrection spell to bring Belron back to life. They went to the temple of Mielikki, and after communing with his deity, sought the efforts of a true resurrection spell to resistate his subscription to the living. The casting of the spell was not without cost however, the preist of Mielikki who performed the casting asked that the party track down this "druid" Apophis Brown and bring him to justice. Belron, less than thrilled to be back in the land of the living, left in a pile of worms, as the adventure concluded.
