Return and Report

General Summary

Azim received a letter from his father, telling him to return to Shedje to report on his findings in the west. He brought along Milo and Mull. They left from Stag's Ballad and made their way into the desert. They stopped off at Kishdanhar for their first night in the desert, then travelled to the capital the next day.
When they arrived at Shedje, they were informed that Azim was expected and to wait at the inn. The next morning they were met by Tegzod Black-Spike and Krusk of the Abkheset ruling council. He was then questioned extensively about the kingdoms to the west, as well as their rulers and council members. When his answered did not reveal the level of detail they wanted, Tegzod Black-Spike suggested that he might be of more use as a galley slave. However, rather than enslave him, Tegzod Black-Spike gave him a second task. Travel to the Isle of Corella and gather slaves. He was told that every slave he captured would prevent a member of his clan from becoming a slave.
Azim went to the pier after this meeting to seek a ship willing to transport them and slaves. He eventually found a familiar face. 'Mad Eye' Horton happened to be in port and, after Milo got tired of Azim beating around the bush and blurted out that they wanted to get slaves, agreed to be their captain, for the right price. A good price agreed upon, they celebrated until nightfall and set sail in the morning.
They had a nearly week-long journey by ship to reach the Isle of Corella, during which they fought off devilfish a couple of times. When they finally arrived, they got ashore and immediately set into the wilderness with a small group of soldiers sent to assist them. They eventually found an inland village which they attacked after dark. They fought a group of village guards who almost proved to be too much for them. After a pitched battle, they managed to round up 52 villagers and march them back to their coastal camp, where the sailors had set up holding pens and a camp.
That night, Azim awoke to an strange, dark land. He was surrounded by large stones carved with runes. The ground littered with the bones of the dead. He saw a light in the distance. Walking toward it, he found a statue of Re looking down on a tomb with a lamp on it. Stepping up to the tomb, he found a plaque inscribed with the following: "Here lies Azim, failure to his people." After reading this, he was attacked by a shadow mastiff. He fought it and defeated it, then yelled out demanding this nightmare end. Then a colossal serpent appeared and mentioned all the delicious nightmares in Azim's presence. The serpent introduced itself as Dendar, the Night Serpent. She questioned him about his experiences causing fear and terror. But, being disappointed by his answers, ended the nightmare.
The next day, the party found a coastal village at the south end of the island. Milo suggested they wait until the middle of the night and try to capture as many people as possible in their sleep instead of attacking while they were awake. Following his plan, they had great success and, despite a brief struggle with a couple of guards, managed to capture 47 more villagers for the slave markets. When they arrived back at their camp, Milo pointed out that Azim was one short of the number of slaves he'd need to free all his people. He then suggested that Azim could hand Mull in as a slave to make up the difference. Mull immediately fled into the ocean. Azim summoned a shark to chase her down, but she killed the shark and escaped north through the water.
Travelling back to Shedje, Azim had to punish his captives multiple times when they caused trouble. The last time there was trouble, it was from the children. But rather than punish the children directly, he punished the adults instead. After counting how many slaves were brought back, Tegzod Black-Spike asked him to name a member of his clan to become a slave. This done, Azim was informed to pick up special anointing oils and report to the city gate at midnight. Doing this, Azim was anointed and brought into the city to swear oaths before a figure dressed in golden robes, wearing a cobra mask. As this was completed, the whip which Azim used throughout this task spoke in him mind, asking: "I'm called Lash. Are you ready to subjugate the weak together?"
After this, Azim settled into the city and Milo returned to Fjordhaven
