Returning our Magister part 5: The Wish
General Summary
The party finally found themselves prepared to return Tiff's soul to her body, all that was left was to hand the items off to Alakazam the Powerful and have him work his magic. To the surprise of the adventurers gathered the items were not some fanciful magical reagents, instead they were an esoteric headache cure to allow Alakazam to deal with the beauracratic red tape of dealing with the divine worshippers of Thoth. After nearly two hours of conversing with celestial beings and slowly having his mindscape elevated to ever higher members of Thoth's divine court, eventually he found his way to the department Tiff's soul was working in, linking them the material plane using his own body as a medium so the party could converse with them.
The party quickly found they were woefully underprepared for an encounter with such a being, especially one that was clearly not in the mood for such a discussion over the handing off of the soul of a valuable and diligent worker. But in a stroke of genius, the party suggested instead of taking flak from this member of Thoth's court, they asked to speak to their boss. With a sigh of frustration this celestial being acquiesed, allowing them to speak to a much more powerful, but also much less overworked celestial being through Alakazam. It was then the party found they were once again unprepared as even with this being's help, the paperwork they were asked to fill out was dense and quite comprehensive. But slowly the party managed to muddle through it. Through much arguing, editing, and rewriting, the document was finished and ready. With a collective sigh of relief, the party handed off the finished document to the celestial being.
But before they being could take it, the celestial being was forced from Alakazam the Powerful's body as a new power endered the room. An avatar of Thoth themself stood before the party, insisting on a good reason to allow for the relinquishing of one of his newest and best followers from their newly assigned duties. While most of the party was nonplussed by the arrival of a manifestation of a god, Nightfall was suitably reverent and quickly entered dialogue with Thoth. Arguing in favor for the release of Tiff's soul convincingly, leading to one final hurdle. Thoth decided he would look over the party's submitted paperwork personally, asking one last time if they were sure it was accurate. Apprehensively the party agreed it was, leading to the most stressful audit of their lives. Luckily for the party, there were only a few relatively minor mistakes, which only resulted in the minor sacrifice of permanant knowledge they had.
But finally, after over a year the great ordeal was over, Tiff was finally returned to Pandora in a form more true to her soul than one she'd inhabited before she'd left. While the scars of life and research may still plague her mind, her body was no longer left with the results. With her now returned ability to walk, after a minor complaint about her work being interrupted Tiff thanked Thoth for the work she'd been assigned and left with Nightfall
