The Curious Case in Honeywood
General Summary
A case was reported in the town of Honeywood all over the boards describing how its one of the fastest growing towns to date. the party consisting of Berklin Milo Toshi and Azim met after some sidetracks with Hobgoblin Nation territory; outside of Arbour Kingdom borderlands. They were met with Arborious the Large Half Orc guide to Honeywood whereupon they would find themselves in a world akin to their own but different in oh so many ways.
The party spoke briefly with Arborious regarding The Case it is said that this case has the power to build at will, a strange power to be sure, but a welcome one. Arborious explained to the party that the case must be retrieved before it fell into ill hands and was used to build something truly evil. Upon entering Honeywood Arborious went back to cutting wood after briefly explaining to them that they would need to gather more info on their target item before acquisition could be possible. The team made their way into town and began questioning the seemingly normal patrons who had all gathered to see this spectacle of a place.
They met with many a people first of which being a holy shepherd brought to bless the rains in this land, offering healing and good will. Secondly they met the gambling traveler Hanzoi and set with him for a game of cards. After having won double his money at a table Miloquickly sated his need for gambling and was on his way. Thirdly they met Marik the merchant offering many a luxury item and perfume. It was only until they stumbled upon a certain mage Karsius the Scholar before they began to realize something was truly wrong. The team proceeded to run him through lines of questioning about the town which seemed to catch something in his memory as a trained mage. As if he caught a piece of his training in a college of mages Karsius the Scholar snapped briefly falling into a state of fear and paranoia. In this state the team proceeded to question him and to their surprise the mage looked to calmly walk to the door of his house and walk inside. Azim attempted to follow him through the door and when he opened it he saw the mage Karsius the Scholar bullrushing him back through the exit and he promptly slammed the door. The team engaged in some thought exercises after this event with one of them just barely noticing that this house was barely built, the only thing really there was a stone foundation and some slabs propped up holding thatch atop it.
The team slowly began to realize that the town may have been bolstered with illusion work, but then why the mind slaves? It truly didn't make sense. They reapproached Arborious who seemed to be making very little progress cutting wood. When prompted with questions such as; "Who are you cutting this wood for?" Arborious went into vague detail regarding his family just over the way, Berklin affirmed Arborious that there were in fact 'no ways' here. Arborious then snapped back into what seemed like a previous moment, and continued to cut wood after nearly breaking down as the mage had before him. After moving right along the party encountered Guile a self proclaimed defender of the town sent by his gods, bearing a lightning bolt in one eye, and his other eye more akin to a dragon the man gave off a fierce look. When under question Guile did not exhibit any of the known issues resembling a breakdown as the previous townsfolk had. After moving on the team very quickly approached Garr: Chief of Staff another presumably mind slaved creature doing the bidding of a bird man Fish! The trus mastermind finally revealed a battle ensued where the team fought a creature they did not mean harm, and his puppeteer. The battle ended with no major damage done to the civilians and with a suddon final blow, everyone in the town fell unconcious for some time. The team found The Case buried in a small safe in the middle of the Tilted Hilt "Tavern," Inside this case they saw a severed hand that appeared to be perfectly preserved. The party decided it best to destroy the hand now as it would only cause more toruble like this.
They lit a fire...
From that fire burned ash, wood, and soil, but not the hand. The team sees reaching down into the box a spectral hand forming a grip on the severed one. Both hands raised together out of the box and the party spotted it as it retracted all the way over to a man hanging from a tree in what appeared to be fine clothing. Upon further inspection the character wore only fine torso wear, adorned upon his legs and arms, up to his hips and shoulders respectively, was jagged black armor that apppeared to nearly absorb the light around it. Them seeing him was no small task, the man was well concealed.
After seeing the town of Honeywood literally fade from existance before their eyes they saw to the townsfolk's health. abd made their way back home. Before their final departure however, shortly after Berklin left, the party seemed to be undecided on what to do with Bird, the would be puppeteer of a town. Azim Toshi and Milo decided it best to cut out his toungue, and then sell him to a relatively local contact.
