The Predecessors
General Summary
Lorenzo went with Evette and Axel back to Ruintale Island, hiring Captain Whiskers and the Cornered Rat to get there. After an uneventful sailing trip, they arrived back at the ruins of the city they explored on their last visit. After a wonderful display of bargaining and diplomacy from Evette, the sailors agreed to stick around for a couple of extra days, should the party take too long to return.
Heading into the city, they started hearing their own voices being thrown around in insults. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what was going on, they discovered a very young blue dragon named Dawntooth the Bringer of Death, who declared that they were now his subjects, he their master. At first, they party was agreeing with his claims and he began to list off his demands of them. They were to bring him regular tribute of gold and valuables, tasty treats (especially RED chickens), find him a cool place to make a lair and finally, to stop asking him questions about his past. Unfortunately, Lorenzo would not stop pestering him about his past, so Dawntooth used his breath weapon on Lorenzo, spurring a fight. Despite being pinned by Axel for most of the fight, Dawntooth almost managed to kill Lorenzo and Axel. However, in the end the party managed to kill him.
Fleeing back to the ship, the party slept for the night there to recover their wounds, then headed outside of the ruins the next day. South of the ruins, they came across the ruins of a church. There they found a pair of strix who were scavenging among the ruins. When they say humans in the party, they attacked immediately. Using their wings to stay largely out of reach, the Strix started off dominant in the fight. However, when the party fled in different directions, Axel managed to pull one out of the air and bite out its throat, while Lorenzo traded ranged attacks with the other. Evette took the path of the scholar and observed from a safe distance. When the last strix realized she was outnumbered, injured and staggered, she decided that discretion was the better part of valour and fled. The party looked through what the strix had been scavenging and found an old journal entry, which Evette was able to largely make out. This gave them some clue about what happened to the island, but still left full details obscured.
Heading south from there they came across a massive pit which contained the skeletal remains of a massive humanoid skeleton. Naming the location Titan King's Demise, they looked around for a time before heading back to the ship and returning to Xiomara.
