The Sanguis Festum
General Summary
Necthan met up with Evette and Marco in Silver City in order to go to West Haven. Travelling via the portal to Fjordhaven, they arrived as the ground was shaking from an earthquake. Luckily, no serious damage was caused by this, just a couple of aurochs stumbling to the ground a few minutes untangling their harnesses. From there they travelled to West Haven by cart. They met up with Ava in the Burning Bridges Inn and shared a few drinks until their contact arrived.
They met with Renaldo in a private dining room. There they signed their names on contracts agreeing to protect the wedding and prevent uninvited guests from entering. In return, he paid them all 1,000 gold pieces in advance and told them to be at the graveyard in Willowdale at the stroke of midnight in two days.
They arrived at the graveyard on time, and Evette took on the responsibility of checking off guests' names as they arrived. Ava stood at a secondary gate using her protective hex on them as they entered the party. Necthan stood by the main gate with Evette, as Marco did a perimeter sweep with his dogs. At first, all went smoothly as guests arrived, were checked off on the list, given a protective hex, and ushered into the party. But, after the last guest had arrived, an awful clanking noise arose, heralding the arrival of Sir Fathram, paladin of Helm. He declared his intention to rescue the damsel in distress (ie- the 'bride') and requested that the party either stand aside, or join him, as he sensed no evil among them.
After much discussion, and bribery from Necthan, the party declared their intention to assist Sir Fathram. However, as he passed between Ava and Marco, they both attacked! In the ensuing fight, Necthan took the side of Sir Fathram, while Evette "watched the gate to make sure no one else interfered." Sir Fathram fought a desperate battle, with four opponents seeking to end him. Luckily he was able to keep healing himself while lashing out with his sword. Necthan managed to down Ava, as well as subdue Marco. Sir Fathram killed Ava, then asked Necthan to guard Marco. He then marched into the mausoleum alone.
The party decided to cut their losses and leave. Evette stayed in Fjordhaven to research the earthquakes, Necthan returned to Silver City while Marco took Ava's remains to Bullgup in Xiomara to get her reincarnated.... again. This time, she returned as a halfling.
