Tower of Combat - round 1
General Summary
Roger, seeing the advertisement for a contest of arms, put out the call for adventurers. Heeding the call, Marrajo, Milo and Evette met outside The Consortium in The Silver City. Packing their bags into Roger's wagon, the party headed off to listed location, outside of the city of Fioritura. Taking a few days of travel, they reached the city late in the evening. Asking for directions to 'the tent' for the tower of combat, they talked with a relatively unhelpful orc before asking a general goods store owner for help.
Deciding to rest for the night, the party went to the Inn within the city. After checking in, Marrajo asked about drink, in which they stated they did not serve alcohol. Enraged by this fact, Marrajo demanded to speak with the owner of the establishment, insulting its low quality of stay. A short moment later, a storm giant emerged from the back, getting into Marrajo's face about his statement. Instead of backing down, Marrajo unwisely decided to continue insulting the Inn's owner. With a massive hand, the giant picked him up, and threw him out the door, warning him not to come back until he develops some respect. Marrajo decided he thought it was best to sleep outside in his tent.
The following morning, the party reconviened outside, and traveled just about an hour south, seeing smoke from a campfire. Following to its source, they found the person who had posted the event, The Tower of Combat. The owner of the establishment introduced himself as Madmus the Magnificent, and began reading a script about the tower. He explained the rules, about how the tower prevents death and combatants are to fight until they drop. Once a member becomes unconscious, they are removed from the fight and the party must continue without them. He explains the minimal rest time per fight, and asked for a team name,
This seemed to be the hardest part of the fight so far, as they started to argue, Milo put forth the name "The Bickering Bandits" in frustration, but it was so far the best option. Recording the names of the combatants, Madmus explains that the team with the highest score after a year gets a bonus prize, and asks for their name. Everyone gives their name, except Marrajo, who just says "I am me". Madmus writes down "me" into his record before Milo specifies that "me"'s actual name is also Milo as crazy as that is. Eager to get to the fight, Roger steps into the teleportation circle before Madmus was ready. Madmus gave the last rule of the arena, they need to be entertaining as many watch and make bets on the participants. Afterwards, the remainder of the party joins Roger to the arena.
The first few fights the party takes with ease. Taking out firstly a mummy, then a hangman's tree, and a Erinyes without any real issues. However, when a giant T-rex was teleported into the arena, the tower of combat received its first casualty, as the maw of the oversized reptile bit down on Marrajo attempting to cast a spell. Moments before death, he was transported to the viewing area in the tent of Madmus, who invited him to watch the remaining fight.
The next fight the party returned to form, quickly dispatching a behemoth hippopotimus and a devourer undead. The next creature, a clockwork leviathan was summoned into the fight, and was the one who took the next victim - Evette. As with Marrajo, Evette wakes up in the tent, and joins in watching the remaining fighers within the arena. Next was a Banshee that utilized some hit and run tactics, and while it was still a hard fight, the fighter continued to the next round, however this appeared to be the last as an angelic creature, bathed in flames proved to be too much for the remaining members of the party. When Roger fell to its flaming blade, it turns its attention to Milo who goes invisible, attempting to bait the creature into a ring out of the arena. Unfortunately, while the tactic was sound, the creature proved to be too powerful for it to work, and Milo fell to its flames.
Waking up, Milo was surrounded by his companions being healed by Madmus's assistant. Madmus congradulates the party, as it was the farthest anyone had made. Giving the party their gold shares, Madmus thanks them and mentions he is excited to see them come and join him again. The party, after claiming their treasure, head back to the Silver City and part ways through the various portals.
