Pengyre and Protean Shore

the region surrounding The Gyre, where the infused essences are continually swirled by the action of that great maelstrom. there are three infusions, and which over a period of months move across the landscape in a counterclockwise transformative tide. Gyrists are divided over whether the region should be inhabited or left sacrosanct - but the land is inhabited nonetheless.   Three rotating essences:
  • spider
  • smoke
  • Flower
  The Protean Shore - where the rivers that drain from the gyre debouch into the Bindkelp Sea, with chaotic infusions that change week-by-week (fire, gold, mercury, snake etc). Uninhabited except for treasure-hunters. Makes navigation along northern Bindkelp by sea hazardous.   Questions:
  • how do the different branches of Gyrism deal with controlling access to this area? the border is too large to control - and presumably, the area within is fairly wild and untamed too?
