Lakeside settlement

Demographics

The town comprises mostly Dwarves, Gnomes and Humans though most species can be found here as people pass through on their way to the capital. At least half the townsfolk work at farming, either crops, fruit orchards or sheep. The other half are mostly involved in either brewing or wool-spinning and cloth making. There is a burgeoning trade in jams and pickles as people look for new ways to utilise and make money from the abundance of crops from the farms.

Defences

The town is surrounded by a wooden palisade and large sturdy gate, there is also a local militia and garrison of guild guards.

Industry & Trade

Their main trades are fresh fruit and vegetables, wool and cider. They are also known for their jams and pickles.

Infrastructure

There are many farms and orchards on the land surrounding the town and the town has several large storehouses to store the crops in. Large buildings house the industrial spinning wheels which produce wool and thread, to be sold on or turned into cloth in the workshops of the town. There are several breweries and vat stores within town also.

Guilds and Factions

Farmers, brewers and artisan's guilds are all represented in town.

History

One of the newer towns it has still been around for about 75 years. Founded after the giant incursions had been halted, the rich soil and abundant woodlands made it a perfect spot for settlement. The close by lake also allowed easy transport of goods to the southern countries.

Architecture

Most of the residential buildings are made from wood as are the warehouses. most of the manufacturing buildings are made from stone.

Geography

Situated a mile or so from the lake, the town is surrounded by farmlands and orchards and beyond that woodland and gently rolling hills. The climate is mild though winters can be cold and snow does fall.

Natural Resources

Fresh fruit and vegetables and wool from the surrounding farmlands. Wood is also plentiful here.
