The Sweet Slice
Purpose / Function
Once the shop of a respected guild baker, turned sacrificial murderer. The Sweet Slice is now home to Osbegda's first themed bar. Ran by a husband and husband team it is slowly becoming a successful enterprise and attracts quite a few tourists, and some locals, interested in the macabre. Rogar and Timble, the two proprietors, promise 'that authentic sacrificial atmosphere' complete with mood music, arcane decor and a glimpse into the life of the infamous baker.
Alterations
The ground floor has been knocked through to create a large seating area and bar. The tables have been decorated with symbols designed to look like arcane runes. Great care has been taken to ensure these runes are in no way accidentally magical. Replicas of the fantastical cakes created by Pergot, the great baker the tavern is themed after, are displayed throughout the main bar area, including magically preserved cakes found in his shop after his arrest. For a small fee patrons can have a drink in the basement where Pergot was known to conduct his sacrifices. It has been kept almost as he left it but all magical items have been removed by the city mages. You can still even see the bloodstains upon the floor from his victims.
Architecture
The tavern is a large, square stone built building of Dwarvish design. It comprises three floors: The ground floor containing the main bar and seating area and a small back office, the upstairs containing living quarters and a basement containing the sacrificial room and storage cellar.
History
The Sweet Slice was once the shop of Pergot Littleleaf a renowned baker and confectioner. He owned the most successful bakery in Osbegda until a competitor moved into the city. This newcomer slowly began to steal all of Pergot's customers and this caused him to become angry and resentful. He sought ways to best his competition and was soon tempted into a bargain with an extra planar being. In return for monthly sacrifices the Being would grant him the ability to make the most spectacular cakes in all of Paneus. Soon people were flocking from all over to sample the delights of Pergots confections and his competition was soon forgotten about. For nearly a year Pergot reaped his bloody rewards, but all was brought crashing down by a determined and grief stricken sister in search of her loved one. The scandal rocked Osbegdan society for months and almost the whole town came out to witness his execution. Pergots shop remained empty for several years as no one was willing to buy a building associated with such horrors, that is until two resourceful entrepreneurs decided that scandal could make money.
