Church of Pelor

Worshippers of Pelor are pretty varied in the manner of their worship. Many have a very informal faith that merely involves witnessing the turning of the seasons and the days, with some time spent in prayer at sunrise or sunset.   The formalized Church of Pelor observes only two major rites:
  • The Fast of the Solstice - usually involves quiet meditation and fasting in observation of the shortest amount of daylight of the year. Many of the devoted will stand vigil the full day and through the night during the winter solstice, only breaking their fast when the sun clears the horizon the following day.
  • The Midsummer Festival - a time of holy revelry, followers are called upon to celebrate while the sun shines on the longest day of the year. While this does involves a few solemn ceremonies, most of it is a joyful and exuberant affirmation of continued life. Children born during this festival are considered lucky.
