Personal history
Maple is the daughter of Zakina Kociak-Falenmir and a tengu named Valerie. Kina didn't know of her existence for a long time as Valerie lied and told her she had a miscarriage. Valerie was neglectful out of spite, taking her anger out on her daughter rather than confronting Kina about the problems in their failed relationship. Upon hearing of the birth of a feathered catfolk, Clover Karith immediately knew that had to be his cousin's child. He visited Valerie every day, desperate to make sure the baby was taken care of.
When he realized that she wasn't getting the care she needed, he turned his sights on Valerie and pressed her for weeks until she signed over her parental rights to him. He took a boring desk job to make sure he could provide for Maple and get her anything she ever wanted. Once Zakina came back into the picture, custody of Maple was split between her and Clover. Maple took an immediate liking to Rikius Falenmir and deemed him "daddy".
When she turned eleven, she gifted him adoption papers and he signed them the second he realized what it was. She's a bit of wild child like her aunt Sirqi and is currently training in archery and magic with Rikius's help. Not knowing what she was doing entirely, she accidentally turned the family cat into her familiar.

Maple acts on a whim, though she's not entirely reckless. She's curious and adventurous, always wanting to run out into the world and explore. She's a hard worker when she puts her mind to something, but she's at the age where reading books and studying isn't nearly as interesting as hanging out with friends.
