Lyceum

History

Lyceum is home to The Lyceum, Aristotle's famed library of his and home to his personal research students. The town of Lyceum was founded in 2024 ACE, it is one of the first settlements founded in the Crossroads that did not exist on the gods original plane of existence. The town is home to the houses of Aristotle's Research students, more of a dormitory, and 3 phalanxes of spartan soldiers. Lyceum has three main buildings, The Lyceum, the Hot Gates Prison, and the Orchard of Discord. Each of the buildings serves an important purpose in Spartan and the peoples of the Crossroads life.  Not a lot goes on in the town, and Sparta aims to keep it that way, every visitor must get screened and approved to go to this town.   

Notable Locations:

The Lyceum: The school and campus belonging to Aristotle, and one of the finest schools of thought in the realm.   This school only studies philosophy, ethics, and the story of the Artist, Canvas, Pallet, and Brush.  The school is home to 50-100 students at a time, and the research done within the area is of the utmost secrecy. 
Hot Gates Prison: Hot Gates Prison was designed as an alternative to the Prison of Immortals within Halicarnassus, and his home to some of the most dangerous beings in existence.  The top floors are dedicated to mortals, but as you descend into this labyrinth of a prison, there lies more of the most dangerous beings in existence.  Among other things, there is a section that is home to the Vault of Daggers, a place for powerful relics to be stored and sealed away.  Though its existence has never been proven, and anyone involved in the questioning, seemingly doesn't remember if it exists or not. A spy from Persia said he made it to one of the last floors, and there they found palace dedicated to a monkey of some sort, he was shortly killed for violating an oath of secrecy to Styx.   No more information is available.
The Orchard of Discord:   This Orchard is home to the Golden Apple Tree's, the same one that Eris used to make her apples for her patrons.   This is one of the most dangerous places in the realm, and only the strongest should go within the Orchard.   The Tree of Eden is said to be hidden amongst the orchard, though after thorough investigation, the Dr has not located it.  This place creates chaos within your mind, body, and soul, and those who are not strong enough to resist are forever changed.

Population: 1,000 (90% Human, 3% Centaur, 2%Goliath, and 5% other races.
Divine Kingdom: The Patriarchy under Zeus
Mortal Kingdom: The Spartan Empire under Queen Gorgos.
Government: General Brasidas "The Spartan", He is the leader and commander of the Town.   He created a small council of people to manage the town's day to day.

• Dr. Nikaia "The Discord Specialist": The previvor of the Orchard of Discord.

• Commander Oreithuia: Leads the Phalanx under General Brasidas

Economy: The economy of Lyceum is made up from the students going to school, the government funds of the Prison, and Dr's Guild payments for their lease of the land.
Military: Commander Oreithuia runs the Phalanx of soldiers under General Brasidas, this includes calvary led by Lieutenant Celeas, and the infantry under Commander Koritto.

Notable People:

General Brasidas: The man leading the small town of Lyceum is Brasidas, he is an Omega Level warrior following Nike.  He is one of the more famed Generals from ancient Greek history.  Described as a dutiful man, he could easily become a Krypteia, but has been requested to protect the town of Lyceum, Guard the Prison, and be the first line of defense against a siege against Delphi.  As mentor to the Dagger of Sparta, he is a brilliant teacher and valued friend of Gorgos.  Should she ask, he would follow her to Ogygia.
Mayor Celeas "The Wild One": A more humbled man, he seeks to find his path as a Centaur the realm of Crossroads.  Once saved from his tribe by Brasidas, Celeas follows him loyally, and was one of the first to request a position at Lyceum.  An Alpha ranked warrior and follower of Zelus, he sees the potential in everyone to be great.  He chose Zelus to prove that her domain was just as strong as the other pillars.  Being a centaur makes it hard for him to get into standard buildings, so under Lilith of the Convocation, he has learned the art of Druidic Magic, and with the weaver's help can shape change into other humanoid beings.  This is useful for his duties as well and being able to blend into the crowd on missions.
NE Pulse Ultra Theophrastus: The dean of Aristotle's school is charged with management of the school, curriculum, and protection of the students.  A follower of Prometheus and Phiobe, his intellect is one of the highest regards.  Not the greatest warrior, but a wondrous student and teacher, his main problem is in seeking to become a philosopher, he was rejected for not being worthy.  This has left him feeling without purpose and he spends his days trying to find a new one. 
Commander Koritto "The Giant Kin":   It took a long time for Goliaths to be accepted in the realm, thought to be children to the Divine Giants, they were persecuted for quite some time.  If it were not for Gorgos and Brasidas recognizing that they are just another race of man from another realm, this could have continued.  Koritto is an Alpha level warrior and follower of Kratos, he uses his strength to keep watch over the Hot Gates Prison, and to honor his General and friend's orders.   He stands at 7ft 2, and has a love of knitting, he is currently a master weaver, and working on getting his degree from the school in Athens.
Commander Oreithuia "The Two Warnings":  Like Koritto, Goliaths had a tough time in the history of the Crossroads, but Oreithuia had it harder.  He met the aggressions of Man and Titan with force, and that landed him into trouble in Sparta.   The story goes that Oreithuia was traveling through Thebes, when a noble man had the guards of the city arrest him for being a giant.  He gave them 2 Warnings to back off and that he was not a Giantborn, and both warnings got ignored.  He slaughtered them for their transgressions and fled to the surrounding area.   He was tracked down and defeated by Brasidas, but he did not kill Oreithuia, instead he was offered a job within the military of Sparta.  An alpha level warrior and follower of Bia, he only gives two warnings to any foe.
Dr. Nikaia "The Discord Speclist":  Being born from the union of harpy and man, her mother one of the most beautiful Harpy's with beautiful blue feathers was save by her father.  Her father was a doctor in the small town of Rhea, and he came across her mother wounded and helped her back to health.  Thier union wasn't viewed the best, but their love was strong, and they rose little Nikaia happily until their sudden death.   The only thing that Nikaia was told was that a golden apple spelled doom for her family.   She now studies the golden apples of Discord, and her beautiful feathers make her stand out to the rest of her kind.
