Green Pearl
Rare gem sometimes produced by older, undisturbed Carcericytes. These resemble oceanic pearls, except for an obvious green tint. Sizes very, but they generally are discovered at 1/4" to 1". Larger examples are extremely rare and highly prized.
The gems are only found in Carcericytes, large mutated amalgams of plant matter, that have been largely undisturbed by outsiders for some time. It is believed that their production is a means of the plants protecting themselves, just like common pearls. As they age, the large botanical masses seem to attempt to purify themselves of the Energized Malachite that corrupted them. The malachite is concentrated at a central point and sequestered in a matrix of resinous organic material. In this way, new pearls are formed.
Green pearls contain malachite, but do not have the dangerous traits of the unrefined substance. While made of a powerful and rare magical material, no magical use has yet been discovered. They are simply valued for their rarity.
