Body: Dear diary, Today marked the fourth day since I stepped through the mysterious S' portal and so far her promise of the lands being outside the reach of Lord Edmonton's law men has held true. In the morning myself and four other denizens of Peak braved the great outdoors in search of gold and glory. With the help of my expert navigation and general sense of direction we managed to find ourselves inside an interesting cave. In the first room a statue stood before us. This maiden had a heart of cold stone and thus was impervious to my looks and charm, deciding instead to engage with the others whom she apparently already knew! Beyond her lay a room in which a strange man offered us drinks without explanation. I was the only one with enough sense to not partake in the consumption of unknown liquids but my compatriots downed shot after shot. After hydrating we moved on to another room in the cave that resembled a large maze filled with rare (but alas of poor quality) gems. After stuffing our bags with the first of the gems arrows began to rhythmically rain down. My quick reflexes and expert eye allowed me to recognize a pattern and nimbly avoid every arrow, but my allies were not so agile and emerged as pin cushions. Before leaving the maze I came face to face with the rogue, Sayris on death's door. "Oh Thermidor" he pled", bleeding before me! "Please save me" he begged. I leaned down and shoved a healing potion down his gullet, saving his life. Never let it be said Thermidor is not generous! In the next room a disembodied voice told us to flip coins until our "luck ran out". Thermidor does not take instructions from disembodied voices and sat out while everyone else flipped coins over and over. The winner's coin turned into some sort of magical trinket and the next door opened. After a brief respite, we pressed on. Combing through several hallways saw us inside of a sandy arena with a lever laid in the center. Like any adventurers worth their salt we spared no time pulling the lever. Immediately after a dire bear was upon us! However as fast as it appeared it was dispatched by Juko's bladework. Our reward was golden coins showering on us from the heavens! We repeated this process slaying monstrous toads, feral hogs, lizardmen and Satyrs. I myself held off at least twenty Satyrs while the others slowly whittled away at a measly handful. But no matter, such a task is easy for the Saint of Swords, Thermidor. The final fight was the walking dead which were dispatched without incident. After the dead were buried again, the lever ceased to function. By then our coin purses were bulging with over five-hundred gold coins. Not a bad haul, but Thermidor has had many better! When we left the arena we were greeted by another iron maiden who congratulated us on surviving their trial and offered an armament of magical armor. I snagged a cloak that matched my blue robes, Sayris a pair of leathers and scale mail for the community chest, for which my donations are many. It was at this point it was revealed to me by the others that they had been here before and participated in other such trials. We entered a webbed cave and after much fumbling around, encountered a locked door. Figures behind it demanded we cover ourselves with hoods. I initially had reservations against this, but went against my gut and trusted the others. We were led into a room full of numerous wonderful beings, the most impressive of which being a white maned tiger. The tiger introduced himself as Soloman. He confirmed that neither he nor the rat Salavara were the mysterious S, however he did admit she used to be his apprentice under a mutual master and is in fact his sister. They were scientists seeking knowledge of other species but when Solomon discovered S performing perverse experiments, she gave him an ultimatum; help me or get out of my way. Solomon fled, and their master placed S in charge of their research and this domain. Finally, he offered us a key, though he cautioned against its use, warning that no one who went into the catacombs it unlocked returned. Happy to have made another friend, especially one who knew as much about S and this world as him, we set off back to town. Salavara… Solomon… Sybil, Sayris, Slyvar… is there anyone here whose name does NOT start with an S?
