Vortigern
High King Vortigern of Logres
Vortigern was the duke and later king of Escavalon in Cambria, and the third High King of Britain. He was also the duke of Glevum, before granting his land to Duke Eldol of Glevum.
He was generally regarded as a manipulative, cruel man and a poor king. He enlisted the help of Saxon invaders Hengest and Horsa to help defend his crown. He married Hengest's daughter Rowena, despite already being married, causing his own sons Vortimer and Katigern to rebel against him.
Vortigern was betrayed by the Saxons at Stonehenge, during the infamous Night of the Long Knives, losing control of Britain. He was eventually slain by his successor and nephew, King Aurelius Ambrosius Pendragon, but Britain is still recovering from his tumultuous reign.
He was the last king of the Gewessi people.
