Maude "Man-Eater" MacDougal

Maude "Man-Eater" MacDougal is the 45th and current mayor of Warwikhamp, a small town in the Duchy of Portshilia on the western coast of the Final Kingdom. She is currently without a town to govern after the sacking of Warwikhamp. When the town was still standing, her duties also included blacksmith, butcher, lawyer, judge, accountant, and many others.

Early Life

Born on 18 Low Tide, 9004 FFC, the fourth daughter of the 39th mayor of Warwikhamp, Josephus MacDougal, Maude was a frail and sickly child who spent most of her childhood indoors. Her mother, Mary, passed away in childbirth when Maude was four, and her eldest sister, Meredith, was eaten by wolves the same year. Josephus was driven to such grief, he threw himself off a nearby mountain, leaving Maude to be raised by her sisters Monisette and Katrinka. As her age grew, so did her height, until Maude reached an unexpected seven and a half feet by her sixteenth birthday. Seemingly cured of her frailty, Maude became an exceptional hunter and butcher, apprenticing under Theodore Strimp. Katrinka was abducted by raiders when Maude was twenty and she led a rescue party to save her. Details are scarce, but rumors quickly grew surrounding the deaths of the raiders and Maude's proficiency with the same cleavers she used to butcher the town's meat.

Growing Ambition

Maude took over Strimp's position as town butcher and her influence grew within the community. As primary caretaker of Katrinka, who was scarred physically and emotinally after her abduction, Maude took on more jobs and positions within the town to care for her. As her reputation grew, and given her family's history with local politics, Maude entered her name in the mayoral race of 9030 FFC and won 36 votes to 13. Despite her new occupation, Maude continued her butcher enterprise as well as judging crimes after the passing of Judge Rubert Redbeard. Her presence at seemingly every location within town made her a symbol of Warwikhamp, bringing trade and even tourism to the small hamlet.

Meat Scandal

In 9043 FFC, Maude was investigated by Kingdom officials on suspicion of importing illegal meats. Despite bring fully complient throughout the investigation, a member of the King's Bulwark was sent to Warwikhamp in case of Maude resisting her eventual arrest, further exaggrating her larger-than-life persona. She was found guilty of bypassing trade embargos and using connections to bring meat from as far as the Hickerwick Wilds to Warwikhamp however due to Portshilia law, she was set to give herself her sentence. Assuming the case would be thrown out, Maude surprised the town when she arrived to the jail to begin her self-appointed sentence of 17 weeks, one for each count against her. She continued governing from her cell, receiving gifts and visitors regularly.

Urban Legends

Her notoriety led to many townsfolk spreading rumors and tall tales featuring Maude. The most well-known is regarding her criminal stint, suggesting the meat she illegaly obtained was human meat. This, combined with her menacing size, life as a butcher, and rescue of her sister, gave her the nickname of "Man-Eater" to many children who grew up during her mayorship.
