Vortallax

Primal Being of Churn and Change

Sister to Iane and Termina, Vortallax is a Primal Being embodying various concepts of change in both natural and social settings. She is viewed by many cultures as having an antagonistic relationship with the sisters Iane and Termina, taking the beginnings Iane creates and changing them into endings, and conversely taking Termina's endings and transforming them into new beginnings. Tangential worship of her and her domain are done sparingly in most societies, but when it is observed it is mostly done in an effort to entreat her favor for positive change rather than negative. More focused worship of her views change as an inherent quality of reality and integral to mortal survival. She is the deity whose Mantle has been claimed the most in history; it is unknown of how much validity there is to these claims.

Divine Domains

Vortallax's influence is transitory in nature, centering on the very essence of change. With a paradoxical influence over and inherent subservience to the metaphysical concept known as the Churn, her embodiment of change is so intense that it is believed by most that she has no true physical form, in the mortal plane or any other. She embodies the transition from Beginning to Ending and Ending to Beginning. As such, she is paradoxically both linked and segmented from Termina and Iane, being the transitory phase between the two and also being an innately constant anchorpoint as the source of change.

Tenets of Faith

Tenets of Vortallax's worship are paradoxical and nebulous to many. While Vortallax has never spoken to any mortal, her will is viewed through any and all things as they are constantly undergoing change. Her power is considered the greatest of all primal beings, instilling such a fear that many individuals actively avoid worshiping her or praying to her unless absolutely necessary. While this has actively deterred any major centralized worship of her, her reverence is centered around the concept of The Churn. The Churn is the acceptance that the next inevitable tragedy or great victory is always on the horizon, with mortals both in total control and a the total mercy of such events. The Churn is always present and cannot be resisted; one can only choose how they succumb to it. Vortallax is simultaneously the conduit, the instigator, and the omniscient observer of the Churn, and to entreat her favor is to ensure your safety in enduring it.

Worship

Worship of Vortallax in its purest sense is often viewed as a chaos cult. However, adherents refute this claim and instead posit a more complex viewpoint in that change is simply the vessel in which all mortals inhabit on the journey to a destiny that is not truly written. The most fundamental faithful avoid major organizational structures as they believe the rigidity hinders change, altering the destiny's of their adherents for the worse. While worship of Vortallax is often disparately scattered to small numbers of adherents across Perradin, the region of Hrim is an exception, being almost entirely devoted to her.

Holidays

Vortallax has no universally-accepted holidays, as such rigidity is often frowned upon by adherents to her domain. Despite this, the Apex Feast on 35 Time's Heart is often somewhat associated with her, if only tangentially, due to its place as the inflection point of a given year. Small silent prayers are often whispered during this time to her to entreat her favor during the "downward slope" of the year as it transitions to Termina's Beck/New Year's Eve on 35 Dying Light.
