Bakias (bɑkiɑs)

The Volcano Goddess of Purgation:

Bakias is the name of the realm ruled by and the goddess. Bakias' portfolio include earthquakes, volcanos, purpgation and revenge. Additionally, Bakias is the goddess of witches and aggressive magics. Bakias and her eponymous realm are tied to the elements of fire, and stone, and minor association with air.   Bakias is favoured by the Svor as their primary patroness. Like the Svor, most of her devotees call her Triune Bakias for her three aspects: the Child, the Seeker, and the Tower.   Like all divine beings, Bakias has many different titles, aphorisms, epithets, and regional/variant names. In dwarven she is called Bacchiah /bækʰiɑh/. Called Bachenar /bɑxɛnɑɹ/ or Bachenāer /bɑxɛne:ɚ/ by the Qh’énns, though Bakias is also common. Known to the Daoshi as Hwéshya /hweʃjɑ/, and to the Ptarshakkians she is Bakkaeus /bækeus/ or Bakkaias /bækhɑijɑs/ (particularly in the north). Derived terms: the Qh’énnish cult Bachensiāe /bɑxɛnsie:/ and its Ptarshakkian equivalent, Bakkashi /bækɑʃi/.   Triune Bakias has three aspects the Child, the Seeker, and the Tower. The Child—the first of three aspects of the Svor goddess, Bakias. As the Child, she appears as a young girl, albeit full of malevolent, capricious energy. Her name is Paksia /pɑks:iɑ/ in Svor; Pogdi /pɔgdi/ in gnome; Pòxxia /pɔ̆ks:iɑ/ in Qh’énnish; Poxia /pɔksiɑ/ or /pɔzjɑ/ in Raachern; Baccsha /bɑkʃɑ/ in dwarven; Bakhshee /bɑkʰʃɛ:/ in Daoshi; and Abazia /ɑbɑziɑ/ in Ptarshakkian (Bakkaias /bɑkʰ:ɑɪɑs/ is a northern Ptarshakkian variant).   The Seeker—the second aspect of the Svor Goddess Bakias; the Mother. Shddai /ʃədɑi/ in Svor; Zahr /zɑʁ/ in dwarven (also occasionally Shddai-Zahr /ʃədɑi zɑʁ/ Zaréa /ʦɑɹĕɑ/ in Qh’énnish & Raachern; Pfoiir /pfɔyiɹ/ in gnome; Xava /zævɑ/ in Daoshi; and Pforuukk /pfoɹu:k/ in Ptarshakkian.   The Tower—the Crone is (believed to be) the final and most terrifying aspect of the Svor Goddess Bakias. Chnahr /ʧnɑʁ/ in Svor and dwarven; Kessère /kɛs:ɛ̆ʀ/ in Qh’énnish; Kes /kɛs/ in Raachern; Chennir /ʧɛniɹ/ in gnome; Sōlvya /so:lvjɑ/ in Daoshi; and Haschah /(h)ɑsxɑh/ in Ptarshakkian.   Later cultists argue for a fourth aspect—Quadrune Bakias—called the Black Gate.   The Black Gate—the hidden and unknown fourth aspect of the Goddess Bakias. The Child, the Mother, and the Crone give way, oddly, to the Maiden. Whereas the Tower of Bakias represents a purgative narrative, the Black Gate is the redemptive aspect. It represents a doorway to walk through into a redemptive path. (Those who know of this hidden fourth aspect call the goddess, Quadrune Bakias; i.e. Bakias in Four Aspects.)
