Balor's eye

The legendary Balor's eye is along lost artifact, that is supposed to have been worn in the ancient times by Balor, the lord of the Fomor, in his defence from the reconquest of Dagda's reign by the gods of light. Balor, in the end, was vanquished but some of his most trusted Fomor may have saved Balor's eye, no one knows where it is hidden.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

According to Herbert of Alkar, redactor of the manuscript Tuatha de Danaan, Balor's eye has some peculiar properties. As primary function, the eyepatch allowed Balor to see as if he never loss his left eye, furthermore he could always see as in plain daylight, even invisible creature or those hidden by magic, such as illusions. It allowed the bearer to tap in the negative's plain energy to fuel powerful spell that could kill on the spot or even disintegrate the victim. Herbert mentions that the object hosts still some of the spirit of Balor himself, making its exhistence a danger for the whole of Phaldorya.

Significance

Evil cultist and people animated by mean intentions have searched unfruitfully this item for centuries. Some scholars doubt its real exhistence and consider that its a figure of speech, rather than a real object.

Balor's eye is a leather eye patch with a filigree outline of an eye and a big ruby to represent the iris. The legend reports that inside the ruby floats a dark cloud, that is supposed to be some blood from Balor himself. The strings are normal leather strings and can be replaced if the get worn.
